The Lakeland village
of Portinscale is situated one mile West of Keswick - a short
drive or an easy walk - and sits on the Northern edge of Derwentwater,
one of the most stunning lakes in the Lake District. Portinscale
is easily accessed by the A66, the main road across Cumbria.
From the m6 motorway: Take junction 40 and head West on the
a66 towards Keswick and West Cumbria. Head past the first turning
into Keswick and drop down to a large roundabout. Continue
straight and past the final turning into Keswick where you
will see signs for a left turn into Portinscale. Turn left
and into the village. Head past the Farmers Arms (local pub)
and round the next left bend in the road - Dalegarth House
is situated immediately on your left (turn left up a
small road beside 'Dorothy Well' to the car park):
